Hi all
The Year 4’s have been currently involved in Science Rotations with each of the teachers. Here is what 4E has been up to in Mrs O’Connor’s class!
What a day! Year 4. With only a piece of fruit and a cup of rice, many students found the going tough. Carrying water to their village, playing games with minimal resources, learning about the difference between themselves and those less fortunate there was a lot to take in!
A massive thank you to Jules K (Bailey’s mum) for her work in the kitchen. Single-handedly she prepped and served 115 hungry faces who were asking for more! Then she cleaned up! Thanks Jules!
Here is a snapshot of the water carrying activity. They had to think about what it may be like to collect and transport water on their own to their village. They were surprised how heavy 3L of water became. They walked for 30min. Some walking up to 4km, how’s that for grit!
Don’t forget to send a gold coin donation to help support children received the education they need in developing countries!
Mrs P
Today each child in 4E was given a country in either Africa, South America, South East Asia or the South Pacific to research as part of our geography inquiry, It would be great if you could help them find a good resource, such as a book or a website so they can obtain simple, relevant information that they can then write in their own words.
Some of the topics that they will be covering include, location, climate, animals, food and shelter, education, health and government. They will then be comparing their country in relation to Australia.
Your child has the opportunity to choose how they would like to present their project. Some thoughts from them roday included: diorama, poster, book, brochure, power point presentation, collage.
In the last week of term 4D & 4E will have an expo where parents, prep buddies and the principal will be invited so the children can share their research and knowledge to a wider audience.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs P
